Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Playstation Coordinator this position will be responsible for the care and safety of the children in their assigned Playstation site which cares for drop-in child care for children ages birth through 8 years. This position will lead program activities and handle any issues as needed in the absence of the Playstation Coordinator.
Supervision of:None, however, in the absence of the Playstation Coordinator, they will oversee the Playstation Staff
Qualifications:
At least 18 years old
High School Diploma or GED
6 months directly related experience
Within 3 months of hire: Completion of 12 hours of basic training for licensing
Within 3 months of hire: First Aid Certification
Within 3 months of hire: CPR Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant
Position Specific Competencies:
Helps plan and participates in program activities
Cares for children ages birth to 9 years in a developmentally appropriate manner
Assists in enforcing YMCA and Playstation policies on a daily basis
Assists in documenting and notifying the Playstation Coordinator of verbal and written warnings when they occur
Assigns specific and appropriate tasks to staff and ensures staff is participating fairly in daily duties
Assists in maintaining an atmosphere in which appropriate discipline practices are modeled and used
Assists in maintaining and enforcing the illness policy for children
Assists in accurately recording and maintaining all reservations and cancellations
Assists in monitoring the usage of Playstation punch cards by families, notifying them when a replacement card is needed
Assists in collecting and recording Playstation fees, documents "no show", late fees and any other charges they have accumulated while using the Playstation
Greets and welcomes all parents. Upon their return informs them in a positive manner how their child did during their stay in the Playstation
Helps handle immediate parent concerns on a daily basis and informs the Playstation Coordinator if a parent needs to be contacted
Completes end of shift reports for the Playstation Coordinator
Assists in presenting an orderly atmosphere
Informs the Playstation Coordinator when equipment and supplies are needed
Fills in if Playstation Staff are unable to work
Assists the Playstation Coordinator in interviewing candidates for their respective sites.
Attends bi-monthly meetings with the Playstation Coordinator
Provides input to the Playstation Coordinator as requested for Playstation Staff's Annual Performance Reviews
Responsible for opening and closing procedures
Supervisory Duties in the absence of the Playstation Coordinator:
Assures ratios are met
Assigns specific and appropriate tasks to staff
Maintains confidentiality
