Position Summary:
The food service worker is a professional who:
Sets up of patient trays, including infants, adolescents, young adults, and geriatric population, dishing hot and cold foods, and special nourishments according to posted and individual menu needs; as well as, assists in the preparation of entrees if needed, and other duties necessary for meal delivery.
When assigned to the cafeteria, the food worker gathers and set up foods, dishes, and silverware necessary for serving; makes coffee, dishes salads, desserts and hot foods, replenishes foods and dishes as necessary. Operates the cash register as assigned, packs and prepares food items for meals for the Meals by Wheels program, records and collects monies, and does bookkeeping for the program in the nursing home setting.
Is responsible for assisting in the setting up and delivery of food for special events or catered meals.
In the dish machine room, cleans dirty dishes and utensils using the dishwashing machine, cleans and sanitizes pots and pans, cleans and washes carts used in meal service.
The food service worker is responsible for cleaning their own work area and for safe and sanitary handling of food, equipment and supplies. The food service worker is also responsible for additional cleaning duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
The food service worker must be able to follow oral and written instruction; be able to learn tray preparation; special diet instructions and portion sizes and must be able to interact with others in a courteous and pleasant manner.
Work Schedule:
Full time position, 60+ hours per two week pay period; to include a variety of morning and evening shifts, and every other weekend.
Full time position includes: health, dental, paid time off, retirement plan, life and long term disability insurances.
Two (2) part time positions, to inlcude a variety of morning and evening shifts, and every other weekend.
Part time position includes: paid time off accrual.
