Mentor
Assist children in the YMCA Early Learning Center, School Age Learning Center, or Aquatics Department.
Help children that need additional attention one-on-one and in small groups to make improvements in behavior, skills, and academics.
Use the Mentor Binder to conduct lessons on bullying, kindness, honesty, and other topics.
Plan and organize fun and educational academic lessons using KidzLit, KidzMath, and other materials.
During Academic lessons, AmeriCorps Members will help children develop structure, time management, and focus skills in a supportive environment.
Complete Mentor Logs to help track improvements in behaviors and skills.
Complete Homework Logs to track the children's success in completing their academic assignments.
Assist with snack, keeping kids focused on task, room cleaning, and other various duties that help enhance the children's experience.
Supervise children during gym or playground activities.
Help children build their Inner Wealth with the Nurtured Heart Approach.
Our Aquatics Mentors work with children and adults who need additional attention in advancing their comfort and ability in swimming skills. They also work closely with their parents and guardians to refine goals that are realistic and attainable for each individual.
Service Contract:
Willing to commit to fulfilling a Service Agreement of 18 hours/week (total of 900 service hours) during September 1st, xxxx - August 31st, xxxx.
Schedule flexibility in the days and the times between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday.
Receive $xxxx living stipend & a $xxxx Education Award!
Must be at least 17 years old.
55+ year old Members may gift the Education Award to a child or grandchild.
Must have a high school diploma, GED, or must be currently working on completing your high school diploma or GED.
Within 3 months of hire: complete 12 hours of basic child care training.
Within 3 months of hire: become certified in CPR and First Aid.
Free YMCA Individual Membership.
